MICHAEL FRACASSO Back To Oklahoma Michael Fracasso's long-awaited follow-up to World In A Drop of Water is here. Back To Oklahoma was recorded live before a standing-room only crowd at the Blue Door in Oklahoma City and once again teams Fracasso with his friend and producer Charlie Sexton (Bob Dylan, Lucinda Williams) who accompanies the songwriter on electric and acoustic guitars and vocals. The album showcases Fracassos haunting tenor voice on signature songs such as Brazos River Blues and Big Sister in addition to several unrecorded songs including the longtime crowd favorite Save Her Love, the edgy Elizabeth Lee, Never Enough, a tender tribute to Lucinda Williams, and the thoughtful 1962 in which Fracasso and Sextons performance evokes the Everly Brothers. The album also documents several covers that Michael has been performing over the years such as the Irish ballad Dirty Old Town. Artist Mary Jo Guthrie Edgemon, Woody Guthries sister, has created a colorful folk-art drawing to serve as the cover for the CD. TRACKS: Back to Oklahoma/Nervous Kind/Elizabeth Lee/1950s/Gypsy Moth/Never Enough/Winin' Boy Blues/1962/Dirty Old Town/Wise Blood/Brazos River Blues/John Hardy/When I Lived In The Wild/Save Her Love/Big Sister LISTEN - MP3 Clip! GOD DRIVES A GALAXY It's Late But I Feel Early Anti-pop experimentation from ex-Nogood Boyos John Constant and Corey Butler, Greg Rose and former Bob Mould bass player Jim Wilson. Constant and company meld bone-crunching guitars with offbeat melodies, strange vocal ambiences and random noise to create a pop-inspired 6-course meal described by one fan as Bowie meets the Toadies. Enhanced CD! "Former Nogood Boyos John Constant and Corey Butler and a couple of other pals constitute the undefinable God Drives a Galaxy. Their recent debut, "It's Late But I Feel Early," out now on Austin's India Records, is by turns woozy, muscular and poppy. The vocals are recorded close to the mic, Brit-style, but the music, which can sound underwater one moment, on fire the next, knows no boundaries." -- Jeff Salamon LISTEN - MP3 Clip! JEFF KLEIN It's Late But I Feel Early Klein's vocals at times recall the rasp of Jon Dee Graham, other times the brooding of Son Volt's Jay Farrar. Break My Heart treads deep emotional territory with haunting melodies and startling lyrics that are at times sarcastic, yet always intense and heartfelt. This is only Jeffs second release but it sounds like the work of a grizzled veteran. "One of Austin's rising stars, Jeff Klein is a young singer-songwriter with a serious, cynical soul. His new sophomore effort You'll Never Get to Heaven If You Break My Heart on local indie label India is dark and moody, bristling with tension, yet possesses a melodic edge that draws the listener in and won't let go." -- Jim Caligiuri March 16, 2001 TRACKS: Fast As You Can/Blown Away/Break In Two/Lower Down/Heaven Of Your Arms/Fallen Down/No Pulse/Patch/Song from The Tin Man/Black And Blue/Half The Time/Ballad Of Big Red/Without You LISTEN - MP3 Clip!
