RED DIRT RANGERS
Oklahoma Territory
As heard on The Songs Of Route 66. Oklahoma's favorite sons crank out this Lloyd Maines-produced gem as their first attempt at national exposure and do it with style. This is music borne from the same earth where Jimmy LaFave and Kevin Welch do their farming. It's rockin' Woody Guthrie.
A very beautiful album from an okie band that takes their name from a name given to Oklahoma's roots music by its natives: Red Dirt Music. They are the true representatives of this music with the release of "Ranger's Command". This is an album where you will find all the music included in the generical "country rock music". From bluegrass to rock, country to western swing, taking things from the best Woody Guthrie folk style or doing Prince's "1999" in a rollicking bluegrass music. Anyhow, what great songs they are. Blending, as the best malts, their own considerable so ngwriting talents with some works by legendary writers, this album can be considered as elemental to any country, americana or folk library. They are an alternative to what has been done in the past years from anywhere in the music map. Just being said that they play good ole music. And if you want to put a label to it for the next years, just call it "good ameri-mix music". God bless. -WCMN, Spain

More Songs of Route 66: Roadside Attractions
"Like its predecessor, 1995s highly acclaimed The Songs Of Route 66, Music From The All-American Highway, this stellar assortment by artists as far ranging and spiritually related as Dale Watson, The Leroi Brothers, Asleep At The Wheel, and the Red Dirt Rangers moves well beyond merely recapitulating the joys of traveling down this countrys most famous black top and instead captures the essence of what made that experience, and the music for which it will be forever intertwined, so joyous. Assembled by drummer/producer David Sanger, whose love affair with Route 66 began with his own journey down its 2000 miles of history, More Songs looks at our own urge for going, the call of the open road and the liberation it represents." -Rapid River Monthly

BRADLEY JAYE WILLIAMS
Tex-Mex Gumbo
A tasty blend of South Texas Conjunto, Cajun and Country by the accordion phenom who has recorded with the likes of Tom Waits, Asleep At the Wheel and Dave Alvin. Co-produced by Max Baca (Los Super Seven) and featuring Los Pinkys, Gulf Coast Playboys and The Derailers' Tony Villanueva.
Released along with Ray Benson's new Bismeaux Records, "Tex-Mex Gumbo" is the lastest album by Bradley Jaye Williams, one of Texas' finest accordion players. He's been playing a lot in the past years as a leader of his own band, but this album is the very first to feature him as a leader. It's lovely music, the one that the masters of Tex-Mex has been playing for decades (Flaco Jimenez, Texas Tornados, etc.) This album features a unique, soulful blend of South Texas music, driven by the combination of the buttom accordion, bajo sexto, march-like snare rolls and infectious polka beats, and East Texas Cajun music. Add that Bradley is not Hispanic nor Cajun (he's from Michigan) so add a little bit of honky-tonk country and you've got the idea. A taste of real Texas. -WCNM, Spain
