AIR PARMA
self-titled
Nashville Round-Up! Air Parma is George Marinelli (Bruce Hornsby, Bonnie Raitt), Mark Prentice (Elvis Costello), and Vince Santoro (Roseanne Cash, Emmylou Harris). "Listening to Air Parma I'm struck by a very interesting blend of superb musicianship and inspired nonchalance. The songwritng is refreshing and the performances spiced with a sense of humor that is charmingly captivating. These guys obviously take their music very seriously but luckily not themselves. Playfulness is good stuff, and this music drips with warm, good rocking fun. Be warned, though, this music is a serious threat to pretentiousness of any kind. To be infected with Air Parma's brand of wholehearted natural enthusiasm is to know that the world is still a good place to live. There is no cure." -Rodney Crowell

The press has called Nancy Apple Memphis' reigning Queen of Country and Princess of Twang. One critic went as far to say she was "As country as Cash, as rockin as Carl, and bygod as bold as Elvis." Amazon.com said about Rob: "The old is new in his capable hands, and dead voices rise to pass their tales on to the living." In the same spirit as Conway and Loretta, Nancy and Rob have conjured up a potent mix of genuine country and western music with enough twang to bounce you from Tennessee to Bakersfield. Two bonus tracks are destine to become Christmas classics.

NANCY APPLE
Should Lied About That
Like Bay Area honky tonker Jill Olson, Nashville-based Nancy Apple has a knack for tag-teaming London pop and Southern twang. The title track of Shoulda Lied About That shows Apple can put over sass as well as regret. When she sings the words “shoulda lied about that,” there’s a weary undertone of wishing she could undo what she did. And when she sweetly intones “Hey hey” before launching into the endearing “This Time Around,” you can’t help but like having someone like Apple tug on your sleeve. -- Tony Peyser, Santa Monica Mirror

NANCY APPLE
Outside the Lines
"The Memphis-based Nancy Apple delivers a delightful disc that travels from the galloping honky tonk of "Slide Me Some Sugar" to the gentle ballad "Outside The Lines". In-between she addresses man, money and life troubles in her songs done up in a slightly retro, highly appealing country sound. Bonus tracks include a live version of her feisty "Truck Driving Woman" and the fun "Shiri Shiri Naka Naka Jyoto Ne." -MoM

BIG IN IOWA
Geezil Pete!
Big In Iowa comes out of your speakers with a classic southern flavor reminiscent of the 1960s and '70s. The lyrics of the tune "Hamiltucky Honky Tonk Hero" sums up the band's stylistic quirks. The band's musical talents allow it to carve its own niche from influences that clearly include the Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Rolling Stones, Hank Williams Jr. , Muddy Waters, ZZ Top, ect...TRACK LISTING: Headache / This Old House / Cows Come Home / Another Day / All I Can Do / Motorcycle Song / Black Hearted Woman / Hamiltucky Honky Tonk Hero / The Zoo / Beautiful Women, Foolish Men / If These Walls Could Talk / Monkey Bidness / Every Time I Fall In Love / Cheap Drunk

Tang The Hump [a popular term credited to godfather of soul, James Brown used to instruct the drummer to ride the bell of the cymbal]
As a songwriter Jill Block rises to new heights. Her song sense and writing skills have attracted the highest caliber of collaborators on Tang The Hump. Noteworthy tunesmiths Angelo, Phil Lee, Carter Wood, Walt Wilkins and Kent Agee contribute to six new Jill Block originals. Dig the Beatlesque vibe of Jill and Angelo’s “When The Devil Won’t Let Go” or the horn drenched Memphis soul of Phil Lee and Jill’s “If It Doesn’t Hurt.” Texas songwriting cult hero Walt Wilkins duets with Jill on “Easy To Love” a bluesy shuffle reminiscent of Peter Green era Fleetwood Mac. Jill and Carter Wood carve out two outstanding tracks on Tang The Hump; the loopy and infectious groove of “Don’t Pity Me” and the somber heartbreak of “Alone In A Crowd.”

CALAMITY & MAIN
Honky Tonk Heaven

Like the dirt dug up for a celebrity divorce proceeding, these fourteen tunes prove the axiom that misery loves company, if only in the satisfaction from knowing the fella on the next bar stool has it worse then you do. Wonderfully sung, superbly played, but, more importantly, constructed with care and not constrained within the bluegrass staightjacket. Explodes another theory - no one sings a John Hiatt song better than John Hiatt. JOHN ENGLAND and the WESTERN SWINGERS

RICHARD FERREIRA
Somewhereville
"An Irishman, an Englishman, and two Canadians walk into a recording studio. That may sound like the setup for a joke, but it actually works as a description of Richard Ferreira's Somewhereville, which brings to mind Van Morrison, Elvis Costello in King Of America mode, Rick Danko, and, on the album-capping "Guilford Mill," Gordon Lightfoot. Working with some familiar names from non-mainstream Nashville (Greg Trooper and Gwil Owen are among the co-writers, and the players include bassist Dave Jacques and drummer Rick Schell), Ferreira has created an album full of memorable songs -- some of them blessed by horns, all of them soulfully delivered. At the center of Somewhereville is the majestic "Moon Over Memphis," the best rendezvousing of roots and soul this side of Solomon Burke's recent record." -Rick Cornell, MoMZine"This new millennium’s hybrid of Van Morrison meets that other Elvis (Costello).......nutritious and delicious in execution, content and vibe, kids." -Kimberlye Gold. Broccoli rock? Who knows why guitarist Greg Foresman slapped a picture of George Bush's least favorite vegetable on his album Rainbow Sky. Maybe because the album is packed with organic sounding jams such as the jazzy , Santana-ish Shoot it up." -(The Tennessean)
From the gritty opening wah-wah guitar to the folky acoustic and harmonica title track that ends it, Rainbow Sky from guitarist Greg Foresman is a psychedelic funk, soul and blues festival." (Tim Roberts of the Louisville Music News)
