MICHAEL FRACASSO
A Pocketful of Rain
A Pocketful of Rain, Fracasso's fifth and finest album, offers a dozen shining and delightful songs that handily make the case for the greatness of their writer and singer. With what No Depression calls his "shrewd combination of powerful images and memorable melodies," he creates virtual worlds within every cut. Combining eloquence, elegance and palpable emotionality with melodies that carry a seductive pop appeal, it's American singer-songwriter music for the new century. As the Oklahoma Gazette notes, he "[puts] all the great strains of American music into a cohesive package," and never more vividly than on this disc. Singing with a voice that Rolling Stone has hailed as "a marvelous instrument," Fracasso is joined on A Pocketful of Rain, by rising star Patty Griffin on vocals. All told, it's one of those rare albums that truly reaches the deep places within a listener's heart and mind.

Wishing Well
“Monte Montgomery blows people away,” said “Austin City Limits” producer Terry Lickona when he introduced the rapidly-rising talent at Montgomery’s appearance on the legendary TV show – a coup for an artist who has yet to reach the prominence of the top acts the long-running concert show usually features. That’s because in a city known for fostering some of the hottest guitar talents of the last few decades, Monte Montgomery is more than just the latest six-string virtuoso from Austin, TX.

DOUG SAHM
Juke Box Music/The Last Real Texas Blues Band
The late Doug Sahm was one of the genuine great (if under recognized) artists of contemporary American music, and the master of all things Texan and musical. His legacy spans just about every genre of contemporary popular music. And some of Sahm's best work can be found on the two albums of Gulf Coast R&B and blues he recorded for Antone's Records: Juke Box Music and The Last Real Texas Blues Band.

Originally released in 1988, Juke Box Music united some of Austin's best blues players with Sahm's San Antonio musical compadres to create a classic Texas big-band R&B sound. It was a style that Sahm absorbed from T-Bone Walker, Junior Parker and Bobby "Blue" Bland as a youngster and mastered playing the San Antonio clubs as a teen, finally captured for a full album. The Last Real Texas Blues Band in 1994 found Sahm further refining his take on the style with studio cuts as well as live tracks recorded at Antone's nightclub, offering some of the most soulful sounds to be heard in modern music (and earning a Grammy nomination for Best Traditional Blues Album).

This two-fer re-issue includes Juke Box Music's original 11 cuts and the four bonus tracks added when it first appeared on CD, and all 14 numbers from The Last Real Texas Blues Band as well as a new bonus track (T-Bone Walker's "Crazy, Crazy Baby") recorded live at the Antone's nightclub 25th Anniversary celebration. Also included are the original Jerry Wexler liner notes to Juke Box Music, Sahm's notes from The Last Real Texas Blues Band, and new liner notes by Austin writer and longtime Sahm fan Rob Patterson.

Together, these albums form a landmark of blue-eyed R&B and offer a true lesson in musical history, as well as some of the most stirring and soulful music to emerge from Texas in recent memory.

CHIP TAYLOR & CARRIE RODRIGUEZ
The Trouble with Humans
One of 2002's most delightful musical surprises was Let's Leave This Town, the "brilliant" and "simply stunning" album of country folk duets by Chip Taylor & Carrie Rodriguez, as Performing Songwriter praised it. Now with The Trouble With Humans, this "beautiful duo" (Nashville Tennessean) offer even further dynamism, depth, and sweet richness within their continuing collaboration.
When musical legend Taylor - writer of "Wild Thing" and "Angel Of The Morning," among many accomplishments - joined forces with Austin-reared, Berklee-trained fiddler and singer Carrie Rodriguez, what England's Country Music People calls "relationship magic" was born. Time and international touring have enriched their creative partnership, including three song collaborations between the veteran Taylor and stunning newcomer Rodriguez, who Vintage Guitar says "sound as if they were born to sing together." The seasoning makes this follow-up to one of last year's sleeper roots music hits into a pick among discerning consumers, critics and radio programmers.
Recorded in Boston and Austin, The Trouble With Humans features a core band of folk-rock stalwarts like Dave Mattacks of Fairport Convention along with Texas guests like Dixie Chicks producer Lloyd Maines on steel guitar, pianist Earl Poole Ball (Johnny Cash) and Telecaster guitar legend Redd Volkaert (Merle Haggard). The music complements the center stage enchantment of Taylor & Rodriquez, who once again create "some of the sweetest music imaginable" (England's Birmingham Evening Mail) and promise to woo countless new fans and buyers with The Trouble With Humans.

"Justin has been back in the studio and produced his latest masterpiece. He has a very good talent with finding the right songs. This is as usual real hard Texas Honky Tonk songs. The songs are many old greats mixed with some for me new titles. I would like to mention all 12 songs as favourites but I´ll satisify myself by only mentioning "Two Empty Glasses", "Three´s A Crowd" (which was recorded by George Jones way back when), "Sound That Breaking Heart Makes", "Rest Of My Life", "She Didn´t Color Daddy", "Then And Only Then" and the best track of the CD "I Saw A Man Dying Today". I want to give any extra hat to Dicky Overbey for his incredibly wonderful steelplaying. He has gotten a lot of room to play on this record. A must-have for you who like Texas-country.
